Freshman Parents:  Please join the counseling department for “Coffee with a Counselor” on Friday, September 30th at 9:00 in the school library.  This is an informal opportunity for counselors and parents to discuss important topics related to the various aspects of the high school experience.  Potential topics include:  Club Opportunities, Aeries, Naviance, Tips for Parents (communication, study habits, organization), Overview of Course Options, Graduation Requirements, A-G Requirements.   Please contact Brian Beasley (bbeasley@suhsd.net) in counseling for any questions.

The Culinary Arts-FHA Club is currently organizing the “Most Magical Cooking Experience Around!” Join us Monday, September 26, 2016 at 6:00 in room 318 for an informational meeting about the Cook Around the World trip and culinary competition at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  We will be traveling in May of 2017. This trip is open to current Shasta High School students who are enrolled in Culinary Arts this year, or who completed Culinary Arts I or II last year school year. This includes current College Connection students as well.  Join us Monday for more information!


Cook Around The World is a truly unique opportunity for students to Learn Hands-On Cooking Skills from Celebrity Chefs and Disney's International Chefs with Option to Compete with Schools from Across the United States or learn firsthand how the Disney Resort Executive Management Team provides unparalleled service to an International Audience.

Welcome to Shasta High School

It is an honor to welcome you to Shasta High School – the Leader of the North! Our school has been providing a rigorous and relevant curriculum for Redding student’s since 1899. We have the most diverse and highest scoring Advanced Placement program in the North state, coupled with an award winning music (instrumental and vocal) program and a highly competitive athletic program. We have a highly qualified staff that truly cares about our students’ education and a counseling staff that works tirelessly to provide academic, career, college and social counseling for our students.

Our school has been recognized three times as a California Distinguished School and we have earned a six year Western Association of Schools and Colleges accreditation. We have a full complement of Career/Technical Education courses including a Science/Technology/ Engineering/Math (STEM) pathway and a comprehensive medical pathway for students that includes: Nursing and Sports Medicine courses on our campus with the addition of Dental in the fall of 2015. We have a strong academic tradition and send students’ annually to Ivy League, University of California, California State Universities, and to 4 year private universities. We have the highest graduation rate in Shasta County and are proud of the fact that a Shasta education is an advantage for life.
